An explosion of birdies for the Hallé-Caron tandems of Boucherville and the Eccels duo from the Royal Montréal.
Everything was in place for this Four-Ball Championship of the Montreal Regional Association, a dream temperature, a flawless Verchères course of the Richelieu Valley, a welcome worthy of the biggest golf clubs, but above all a contingent of amateur and senior golfers of high quality.
From the start, the amateur group set out and the fight was drawn between the teams of Doug and Cory Eccels of the Royal Montréal and the team of Michel and Olivier Daneau of the Continental Golf Club. Finally the Eccels got their hands on the title with a score of 66 or 6 under par, while the Daneau finished with a shot from the leaders, (67). The Eccels duo is back on the podium for the second time having won the title in 2017.
In the senior category what performance of the Hallé-Caron duo of the Boucherville golf club, A series of 6 chicks on the first nine allowed them to score 30 on the combined trip on the 33rd return, giving them a total of 63 or 9 below normal. Their pursuers, Alain Picard and Sylvain Mercier despite the score of 67 could not catch them.
Other highlights include Christian Hinse’s one-shot hole and their score of 69.
